Hungerford Arcade: 200 Years Since Waterloo

On days of national importance, the Union Jacks fly in Hungerford and today is no different.

Today marks the bicentenary of the Battle of Waterloo, which is considered to be one of the most important battles in British history.

Most of the fighting took place near to but not actually in the small Belgian town of Waterloo - The Duke of Wellington named the battle after the town in which he stayed that night.

To mark the 200th anniversary, more than 5000 enthusiasts in period costumes will re-enact the battle this weekend.
